In-House Laboratory Testing for Process Control You Can Count On
AS Processing operates a fully equipped analytical laboratory — ensuring every process we run meets chemical, dimensional, and performance requirements before parts leave our facility.
Our Laboratory
175 sq ft of Dedicated Quality Inspection and Testing
Our in-house laboratory is not an afterthought — it is a core part of how we deliver consistent, certified results. Located within our Fort Erie facility, the lab is staffed and equipped to perform both chemical analysis and environmental testing in support of process qualification, ongoing process control, and customer-specific inspection requirements.
Every process we run is backed by documented test data. When your quality team or auditors ask for evidence, we have it.
Testing Capabilities
Comprehensive Testing. Complete Traceability.
Our lab capabilities span environmental simulation, chemical analysis, and physical measurement — covering the full range of tests required by aerospace, defence, and life-support industry specifications.
SALT SPRAY TESTING
We conduct salt spray (fog) testing per ASTM B117 and other applicable standards to evaluate the corrosion resistance of coated and plated components. Salt spray is one of the most widely required acceptance tests in aerospace finishing and is a critical part of our process qualification and quality release procedures.
ADHESION TESTING
Coating adhesion is verified through standardized testing methods to confirm that applied finishes are properly bonded to the substrate. Adhesion failures in service can have catastrophic consequences — our testing protocols ensure they don’t happen.
COATING THICKNESS MEASUREMENT
Precise coating thickness measurement is performed on processed parts to verify conformance to drawing callouts and specification requirements. Thickness data is recorded and traceable to individual job orders.
COATING WEIGHT MEASUREMENT
For processes such as chemical conversion coatings and anodize, coating weight measurement provides a direct verification of process performance and specification compliance.
X-RAY FLUORESCENCE (XRF)
Our XRF analyzer provides non-destructive elemental analysis and coating thickness measurement with high accuracy and speed. XRF is particularly valuable for plated deposits — confirming alloy composition and layer thickness without damaging the part.
SPECTROPHOTOMETER
Colour and surface finish consistency is verified using spectrophotometric analysis, supporting processes where visual and optical properties are part of the acceptance criteria.
PRECISION OVEN
Our precision oven supports hydrogen embrittlement relief baking, pre- and post-treatment thermal processing, and process qualification testing requiring controlled temperature exposure.
ATOMIC ABSORPTION (AA) SPECTROSCOPY
Atomic absorption spectroscopy is used for chemical bath analysis and solution monitoring — ensuring plating and conversion coating baths are maintained within their required operational parameters for consistent process output.
RESISTIVITY TESTING
Electrical resistivity measurement supports processes where conductive or resistive surface properties are a specified requirement — common in satcom, optical, and electronic applications.
WATER IMMERSION TESTING
Water immersion testing evaluates the moisture resistance and sealing effectiveness of anodic coatings and other surface treatments under sustained exposure conditions.
Testing That Supports Your Specs —
and Our Certifications
Our laboratory capabilities are integral to maintaining our NADCAP accreditation, AS9100 Revision D registration, and ISO 9001:2015 certification. Every test is performed to documented procedures, with results recorded and retained as part of the job traveller package. This means your parts come with the data to support first article inspections, source approvals, and customer audits.
